Hydroxyl silicone oil, also known as dimethyl hydroxyl silicone oil, structural formula HO [(CH3)2SiO]nH, is a repeating silicone oxygen bond as the main chain, methyl as the side group and hydroxyl capped linear polymer. This silicone oil is colorless and transparent, tasteless and odorless. It is soluble in organic solvents such as carbon  tetrach loride, benzene, chloro form, ether, tolu ene, etc. It is insoluble in water and ethanol, and the low-viscosity hydroxyl silicone oil has a certain solubility in water. It can be used in the manufacture of silicone hydroxyl milk, as fabric, paper, leather treatment agent. Dimethyl hydroxy silicone oil is widely used as a structural control agent in silicone rubber processing, it can effectively control the structuring effect between the mixing rubber and white carbon black, to improve the processing performance of silicone rubber, to extend the storage period of the rubber. Dimethyl hydroxy silicone oil can also be used for the synthesis of various types of polysiloxane intermediates.
